Win 2000 migration

Don

Question? I am moving my PDC(winNT) and BDC(win2000) onto
two new servers running win2k. when i migrate using ADMT
v2.0 do the new servers have to be in a seperate domain as
the source server? or can i be running the new servers on
the same domain when i migrate? if they have to be in
differnet domains, when can i change back to the original
domain name? My domain is a sub-domain of a bigger domain
that provides DNS,Exchange, and HTTP. if i move to a
differnt domain name i will lose thos services correct
(untill i move back to the orignal domain name)?

thanks Don,
you can reply back to me at (e-mail address removed) thanks again

Don,

To answer your question - yes!

When you use ADMT you have a 'source' domain ( aka - your existing domain )
and a 'target' domain ( aka - the new domain to which you are migrating the
user and computer and group accounts ). One caveat - you need to make sure
that your target domain is in Native Mode.

Your 'target' domain can already be in existence. Just beware that you are
going to have problems if you have two domains with the same NetBIOS
name.....

HTH,

Cary
