I am trying to reinstall win 2000 pro and when it gets to the "installing
devices" menu where it says it is detecting and installing keyboard/mouose it
gets about half way through the progress bar and then reboots and goes back
to the menu and continues in an unending cycle. I can't figure out anyway to
get it to continue and have tried unplugging stuff, but it will not stop
rebooting before it gets through. What can I do??

What type of system are you installing to? Have you removed all
non-necessary add-in cards also? What type of keyboard and mouse are you
using? Are they USB or PS2 devices?

It's a custom PC from a local store, so it's an assortment, but I think it
might be the sound card, so I'm going to remove it and try. Thanks!

I've seen this many times. Its an ACPI issue. Early on in the install
process, when it says to "Hit F6 to install additional drivers ...", hit F7
<---not a typo. This will load the O/S with a non ACPI HAL.
