Win 2000 does not detect usb mouse

I am upgrading a m571 v70a for my husband. I have succeeded with the
10g hd and installed win 2000 on a 4g partition, a mitsubishi diamond
scan 20 monitor with the onboad sound working. device manager shows
usb and bios has usb enabled Of course I can't find the manual from
when I bought the mainboard new! I got an atx form card for the
motherboard and enabled usb - which is detected. Optical mouse has
yet to be detected. I have bought a Via pci usb upgrade and disabled
onboard usb. Again usb is detected but not the mouse which is the
only usb device I have for it. The little light doesn't light and it's
as if not there. I tried that mouse on my machine and mine on that one
- my machine works either mouse his doesn't. If I don't have a serial
mouse plugged in I have no mouse! It's terribly frustrating to
troubleshoot a mouse -without a mouse!
m571 motherboard
pentium mmx 233
76 mg ram
10g hd
w2k on 4g partition
disabled sound
removed ethernet card
Device manager has never showed conflict - but it doesn't show mouse
either
any suggestions??
thanks

don't know about your mouse
but don't even think of using win2k on a machine with just 76megs of ram!

go here to get your manual http://m571.com/m571/
you will need acrobat reader to veiw the PDF file!
Timmy's site has much info on these boards, upgrades, tweaking, etc.
Got mine running a ultra smooth 450mhz, very easy to upgade? Also, do
a search, something like (m571 usb problem) the net is loaded with
m571 faqs & answers!
