will show an envelope icon work with new mail routed using rules?

In email options - advanced email options, I like to use the show an envelope
icon for new email notifications. However, I have filtered a large part of
my incoming mails directly to subfolder. It seems that the envelope icon is
only appearing for new email going directly to the primary inbox. In MS
2000, the envelope icon appeared when any new mail arrived to any folder.
Can this be fixed?

No... it was changed because people hated how they there alerted for new
mail when they filtered it to other folders. If you use the Unread mail
folder (or create a custom search folder for new mail today), you can easily
see that new mail has arrived.

Ok, thanks. The only problem with creating the folder for new mail today is
that I can't figure out how to include only new, unread mail in inbox folders
only - not deleted, drafts, sent, etc. Is this possible? I tried using
advanced: field: date/time field: received today.

http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2005/20050707.htm has the basics -
you'll need to select your inbox, not the Sent folder - and the criteria
will be unread and sent (or received) today - those two are both on the
first and second tabs, I think, or you can use the Advanced tab.

I still miss the envelope but this was great advice. Thank you.
