will not send messages

I'm having trouble sending a message in windows mail. How do I fix this? I
keep getting this message.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Form
posted from Windows Internet Explorer.', Account: 'imap.gmail.com', Server:
'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 5.7.0 Must issue a
STARTTLS command first. f42sm39993602rvb.5', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

I am having the same problem except I get this error message:

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'resume', Account:
'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 76.96.62.117 (76.96.62.117:25),
connect error 10060', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error
Number: 0x800CCC67

It is kind of odd that so many are having a similar problem asll on the same
day...

You have the wrong port number for a start.

You are NOT having the same problem, you are with Comcast POP, the other guy
is gmail IMAP.

For your problem:
Change the Port number on the Advanced tab of your account from 25 to 587
etc

See point 10 onwards.
