Will 9800 or x850 work in Intel 850-based system (850emv2)

I have an Intel 850emv2 mobo and want to upgrade from my Radeon 8500.
The mobo says it is AGP 2.0 spec (4x?), and I want to upgrade to
either a 9800 or x850 (preferable the latter) which are 4x/8x. It
seems like this combo will work; but, does anyone know for sure? I
saw one comment on Amazon that their AGP 4x mobo did not work with an
x850.

I ran a P4T-E (Asus brand motherboard using the same chipset) with a
9700 Pro for a couple of years with no problems. I currently have a
9600 XT in the same motherboard and have no problems with it. I played
some intensive games on the motherboard and never noticed any problems
other than when the video card itself got too hot.
