Hi,

My customers Server is running Windows 2000 and has recently started
'playing up'. I have noticed there is a vmimb.exe process running and is
using 97% of the CPU. It won't allow me to stop it although I am logged in
as Administrator.

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks.

Do a search on the server for that file. If it's in a suspicious location,
delete it. It may not allow you to (in use), so the next step is to do a
search of the registry for the file (no doubt it's either in the run or run
once, or perhaps smart enough to be running as a service), and remove it
from there - disclaimer: only do this IF you identify it as a non valid
process.

Then reboot the machine and delete the physical file.

I might ask the question - what are you doing supporting a customer's win2k
server if you don't know this? I hope you are just helping out because they
are a client for some other reason, not IT support ;-)

A check on Google suggests that the file is necessary for
the operation of MS Exchange.

Indeed it is, the POP3 connector. Restart your Exchange processes and see if
that helps.

Well it's funny you should say that as they have not been collecting email
for a day or so and the POP 3 connector keeps stopping.
I'll stop all the services and then restart them (again) and see if this
helps. Thanks for the help so far though.
