wierd CD-RW boot up

I just installed identical CD-RWs, speed: 52X32X52, one the master,
the other the slave. The BIOS reports master as 52X32X52, but the
slave as 52X24X52. Is that normal?

Have you tried swapping them around to see if the master becomes
52x24x52? If so, then I doubt it's anything to do with a BIOS problem.
You could also try them individually.
