How can I suppress this function and get pictures openend
immediately without supplementary detours via a pseudo
intelligent new windows feature?
Being just an ordinary user I'd be glad for an easy tip.
Thanks

Hello!
Start/Run/CMD/regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll

If you disabled the fax/picture viewer by using regsvr32 /u
shimgvw.dll, then changing user icons fail to work: You
need to re-load the dll and it will work. Have only tried
this w/ XP Pro. Reload by typing in regsvr32 shimgvw.dll.

Install a freeware image viewing program called Irfanview which can be found
here
http://www.irfanview.com/ and configure it to show all image files except
for tif files.
I still use the Microsoft viewer for tif files at this point.
