Widescreen with 9700 PRO

A friend of mine, living out of state, has a 9700 Pro and a widescreen
monitor (1440x900) and can't seem to get the card to display that
resolution. What driver or setup should he use? He's currently using a VGA
cable, however the monitor has DVI capability.

Has he installed the inf file for the monitor? I am currently using a
Samsung SyncMaster 204B with this video card and as soon as I installed
the files from the CD that came with the monitor it came up at 1600x1200
with no other changes.
