Widescreen monitor

I just install Windows vista ultimate 32-bit on my mac. Everything is
stetched because my computer is widescreen (1680x1050 or 16:10). How do I set
it to the right resolution?

Right click on desktop, click Personalize, Display Settings, and you can
change the resolution there.

Yes, but the highest it will let me select is 1400x1050, which is standard
ratio. My display is widescreen 1680x1050. How can I get it to change the
ratio?

Have you downloaded the most recent drivers for your video card? You might
give that a try.

you need to install the latest drivers from video manufacturers web site.

the native drivers you have with fresh install will not allow high enough resolution.

I don't believe that is the problem, because the operating system doesn't
seem to understand that my monitor is widescreen. The Y-axis actually has the
right amount of pixels, but the X-axis is stretched. It is the highest
resolution that could fit in my display... in standard definition.

I just tried to, but it said it was up to date.

If you go to where you change the background/wallpaper, there are options
for how the background is sized. Try all of the options until you find the
one that looks right..

Nothing has worked yet. I need help, please!

My graphics card is an ATI Raedon HD2400 w/128MB RAM if that matters.

Eliot,
The solution is quite simple.
I bet you that your monitor shows up in Device Manager with something like
Generic PnP Monitor or so.
You need the drivers for your monitor so that Vista and your graphic card
can know its capabilities (resolution, refresh rates, etc.)
Go to your monitor manufacturer web site and download the proper driver,
usually a small text file with the "inf" extension.
One last doubt.
Does your ATI HD2400 support that aspect ratio?

For some reason, I can't find my monitor information inside the device
manager... there is no folder designated "display" or "monitor" or anything
like that.

The graphics card has to work with that aspect ratio because it works
perfectly in OS X. Remember, I am using an iMac so it is made specifically
for my computer. Apple put everything together in my computer.

After checking the Apple forums, I found someone with the same sort of
problem. That person had to intall the drivers off the mac os 10.5 DVD, and
apparently that worked. I will try that either tomorrow or Saturday, as soon
as I can get the DVD back.
