Wider cmd screen?

How does one adjust the max width of a cmd prompt screen? (XP Pro)

At max ours is only about half the available screen width.

Open a Cmd Prompt Window. Right Click the Icon at the upper-left
corner of the Window. Left Click Properties. Click Layout. Modify
the Screen Size and Position. When closed, Choose "Modify the
Shortcut" to retain the settings.

While in a Command Prompt session right-click on the top bar and select
Properties then click on the Layout tab.

Odd that I have never noticed this section of the properties dialogues
before!

I use ALT-ENTER combo to make it full screen. Does that help?

You can do it from the console itself:
mode con lines=50 cols=100
