Why Word docs listed in History in My Computers?

Thank you for first reading the one line of Necessary Background before
getting to question: When I got my IBM computer with XP several years ago,
both My Documents and My Computer were listed under My Network AND under My
Computer were listed a folder called [my name --- i can't disclose it in this
newsgroup]documents (so in effect every Word document appears in 2 places in
my computer). Since XP was new I assume this was supposed to happen. HERE
IS THE QUESTION: when I open History, not only does it show the Web pages I
looked at each day but it also has a listing for each day called My Computer
and within it are all the documents I viewed that day whether word docs or
excel docs. I never noticed if My Computer and the docs were part of History
before. ALSO, when I delete the My Computer from a particular day's history
e.g. I delete it for Monday, when I go back to history and I click on that
day again nothing appears on a list even though there were previously web
pages listed separately from the My computer listing containing documents I
viewed. Since Microsoft often sends updates perhaps they added this? I
thought that History was only supposed to show web pages you view. Of course
there isn't any info I can find about this. I have AdAware and keep Ad Watch
running on manual and only allow changes when I have just allowed a Windows
Update. Full scans with AdAware does not show that I have any spyware on my
system. I also have Norton Anti-virus and updates are automatically loaded
and a full scan did not show any problems. Does anyone know if History is
supposed to display My Computers and within it all the documents viewed that
day?

mine does.
it also has a shortcut (url type) witinn a folder named for a internet domain name (for ms win udpate).

it also has a text file i edited that exists on another computer on the LAN. this is in a "folder" with hte name of that computer on
the LAN.

so i guess History is being consistent.
