I am trying to get mp2 files to play in PowerPoint. It plays in Windows Media
Player just fine and imports into PowerPoint fine . . . but will not play.

Yes. mpeg-2. It plays fine in Windows Media Player9 and imports fine to
PowerPoint but when in show mode will not play the clip.

Mpeg-2 files are normally used in DVD files. If this video came from a DVD
it almost certainly has DRM (Digital Rights Management) in it and can not be
used in PPT. If the file was created with another application (home made
DVD) it may not be compatible with the MCI player (used in PPT).

As a suggestion, give PFCMedia a try. It will convert this file to one
more suitable for use in PowerPoint. You may download a fully functioning
trial from http://www.pfcmedia.com

(Note: If this file came from a commercial DVD PFCMedia will refuse to
process it.)
