Why won't it share?

Miss Perspicacia Tick

I have a 2 computer WiFi network with my computer down here and my parents'
system upstairs, sharing printers, drives and a 2Mbps ADSL connection. I wil
begin by listing the specs of each system: -

Mine
-------
ASUS SK8V (yes, I know it's VIA)
FX-55
2GB PC3200
2x75GB 10K Raptors in a RAID0 array
1x300GB 7.5K Caviar
9800XT
Audigy 2 (irrelevant)
On board LAN
NEC DL burner
Netgear 54Mbps WiFi router

Printers: - R800 and SC900 (both successfully shared)

OS: - XP Pro SP2 (and all subsequent updates)

My Parents
--------------
Shuttle
I forget the board model - FN41v3 or something (it's nForce2-based anyway)
80GB 7.2K Caviar
512MB RAM (32MB shared graphics)
Identical DL burner to mine

Printer: - Epson Photo RX620 (successfully shared)

OS: - XP Home SP2 (and all subsequent updates)

Now, here's the problem. My drives are partitioned thusly: -

RAID array: - three partitions (C, D and E).
Caviar: - 1 partition (H)

I have successfully shared the C, D and H partitions; however, E refuses to
be shared. It is marked as shared in My Computer, but it's not appearing as
shared in Network Places (there is no icon for it there - the other three
partitions are present).

I have unshared and reshared several times, but it doesn't make any
difference.

For graphical representation please see http://www.craigy34.eclipse.co.uk/.

If you need any more info, please don't hesitate to ask. For the record, all
partitions on all systems are NTFS.

My Network Places doesn't always automatically show all of the shares
on a network. Click "Add a network place" and add it manually. You
can specify the network address in this form:

\\computer\share

I've just awarded myself my coveted Moron of the Month Award - I feel like a
right plonker now! <insert embarrassed emoticon here>

Cheers, Steve, for making me look a complete idiot! ;o))

You're welcome. Just don't become attached to the award. I, or
someone else, will soon earn it, and you'll have to pass it on. :)

Seriously, the network browsing function in XP doesn't work as well as
people would like. From what I know of its implementation, I
sometimes think it's a wonder that it works at all. Adding your own
shortcuts to My Network Places is the surest solution that I've found.

Hi Miss Perspicacia Tick

When you have time could you explain how you setup your network to share
with your parents. Have downloaded your pictures. You can view my specs in
the "Transfer Speeds" message in this group.
