Why won't IE fully open in XP? Pls help.

Hello, I have win xp home on my laptop, have used it for 18 mos., but in the
last 2 weeks, whenever an Internet Explorer (6.0) windows opens, it does not
maximize. It stays smaller than the full screen by about a half inch on the
bottom. I can maximize it manually after it opens.

What can I do to set my IE windows to open fully?

thanks

Hi,

This can happen from switching between Themes. Either way, stretch out the
window with the double arrows, once the size is correct, use File/Close.
Re-open.

hi there mark,

Try these steps:

1. Open a IE.
2. Don't use the maximize button.
3. Stretch the corners so that the window fills the
screen.
4. Close all other IE windows.
5. Close the stretched window last.

Next time when you open IE, it should open maximixed.

This is not a solution. If anything it causes more confusion since the
maximize button will appear to have no functionality if the window is
manually sized to the maximize size and the restore button will also appear
to have no functionality.

Right click on the shortcut icon and choose properties, from there change
the "run" setting to maximize.

THANKS TO ALL. These steps seem to have worked. Interestingly, when i open
IE with the 'www' button on my hp laptop, THAT window is full sized, but
when i would click on a link otherwise, it was not full sized. But i did
what you said and so far it works. thanks.

That's a nice sarcastic remark, but the fact remains that if the advice is
followed, the middle sizing button will be rendered useless. You consider
that to be a solution?

How about following the steps I provided and fixing the problem instead?

i have to agree with scott, the issue has not been fixed. you are dealing with the memory function built into ie. to set it so that windows open maximized every time you can ewither set it to run max as suggested earlier or

1. open an ie browse
2. maximize i
3. open another browse
4. maximize i
5. close browser #
6. close browser #

now open a new browser and it will open maximized. remember that closing a window sets the memory to how the window was when closed. ie will open the next window the same
