Why were hundreds of emails deleted automatically!?

I came home thise evening and noticed there were hundreds of emails that are
GONE. Where are they? Is the system set up to delete emails after a certain
amount of time? Please help!
 
Outlook does not delete messages by itself. Maybe you have AutoArchive
set up?

Give us some details: Outlook version, account type, AutoArchive
settings; also from which folders have the messages disappeared?
