why the search engine doesn´t works???

I installed WIN XP. ok.

But the search engine is not working.
Only appear the big window, but the assistant or anything in the left panel,
simply doesn´t exist.( the panel appears but is totally empty). I can´t
search nothing.

Could you please help me to fix this bug?
