why so slow

when i run programs why does it take so long for xp to
start them and when im running a game or rom it goes sooo
slow

and why does it keep askin me to insert the xp cd because
somethings missing

You have done all the usual, Virus checking, Scan Disk(ing), Defraging, etc?

Games, can be your pc setup, you don't specify what game, and you machine
specs, you got latest drivers, etc? updated all of windows via windows
update? etc, just the simple things can resolve most problems....
