Why so slow?

I have a COM control that is programed with Delphi3.0. This control can draw
coordinate system. I have reference the control in my VB6 project and it
acts well. Now I reference it in my VB.NET project but it draws too slow.
Anyone can tell me how to improve it? May I need to redesigned it with
Delphi 8.0 to a real .net control?

Any suggestion will be great appreciated.

Interop (using com component) has a tendency to be slow in vb.net.
