For an alleged "state of the art" OS windows XP sure is
buggy, and picky. My problem is after reinstalling XP on
a newly formatted disk because of a hard drive faliure, I
can't run any 3rd party software ie.Madden 2002, Vice
city, railroad tycoon, etc. Also about every other boot,
I get a blank screen without any response from input, I
have been struggling for 3 weeks now doing every trick I
know to make it work, and I am at my wits end, and I am
ready to install win 98 since I have had much more
satisfaction using it. I would also like to be reimbursed
for my worthless XP that I purchased retail from
tigerdirect.com with my FIC AN19E barebones system. All
my hardware have the latest microsoft signed drivers. How
can I get some satisfaction from my hard earned money?

You won't get much satisfaction in here, what you have is
MS Brown Nosers, Microdunces and MVP wanntabes. They spout
the MS club line. You can join this group Microsoft
Victims Anonymous..........lol

Gaming on a "Barebones" system ?. You would have been
better off buying the $499 special from Dell and bumping
memory to 512 Megabytes. After 3-weeks of "Struggling",
you should cut your losses and move on. At this point all
you are doing is convincing yourself that XP is at fault.
Windows 98 is not better, just something you were more
comfortable with.

no problems with my computer.
i have same 3rd party (madden-vice-railroad-rollercoaster-
simcity4-thrillride-eetc)
every thing runs fine and fast.

but i do not have "barebones" system but i do not have
lots of bells/whistles....compaq-speakers-dvd-gamepad-usb-
etc.

Your problem is that Tiger Direct sold you a cheap system,
with cheap components. You can demand that they exchange
the system for a better collection of hardware.
Cheap is not the same as inexpensive.

Your games compatibility with XP/NT can be checked and up
dated programs are available.

Many of the Tiger Direct products are refurbished which
means that some are used and repaired(?) and some are just
open box items. The ad writers never say, "this system
built with returned parts, is cheaper, not state of the art
and costs but a small amount less than new computers from
Dell or the local computer store" so you need to be
knowledgeable about hardware so you can read the specs and
buy what you need.

"about every other boot, I get a blank screen without any response from

Sounds like hardware. Sorry.

My kid had a 4 meg video card and couldnt run any new games either. Many
new games want
64 or 128 meg for video.
