Why scrolling within the folder list/navigation pane in Outlook 2.

Outlook 2000 had the functionality of allowing users with a wheel mouse to
scroll on the old so-called shorcut bar. Now the new Outlook 2003 does not
allow that. For example if I open the Folder List and I click on my Inbox
Folder, if I try scrolling up/down within the folders in my folder list, the
Emails on the right side get scrolled instead, is this a bug?

Nope, works for me. The pane (Navigation Pane, Message List or Reading Pane)
my mouse is hoovering is is the only pane that scrolls when I move the
wheel. When I move it to another pane that pane scrolls straight away. Make
sure you've got the right mouse driver installed for your mouse.

Doubt it. Mine scrolls just fine. I have no clue why yours doesn't. No one
else seems to have run into it so far.

We have 11 computers and we all have the same situation. I downloaded a
driver from IBM for my mouse to see if that did anything and... Nope..

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing:
I open Outlook 2003,
click Folder List (this opens My Folder List in the Pane)

I have all my folders: calendar, contacts, deleted, drafts, inbox, sent,
notes, etc.
if I click on my Calendar which is my first folder and then try scrolling
with my wheel mouse (not dragging the scroll bar) my Calendar on the right
starts moving as if I were searching for any particualr time (Of couse this
depends on the view you have in your Calendar..I have the Day view)

Instead, (the way old Outlook worked) I should be scrolling down to my
Contacts which is the second folder, then to my Deleted which is the third
and consecutively down the list. When you have a lot of folder (like we do)
this made it real easy for us.

Thanks.

Is the calendar folder name highlighted in dark blue when it opens? If not,
you'll need to select it, then scrolling should work as before. This is
because when a folder is selected in outlook 2003, it gives focus to the
folder contents, not the name in the folder list as previous versions did.

BTW When any folder name is highlighted and if you know the name of the
folder you want, you can press the first letter in it's name to jump to the
next expanded folder beginning with that letter. Keep pressing to roll
through all of the folders. This won't work on subfolders unless they are
expanded.

When I click on the Folder List icon to open my folder list, the Calendar
folder name is grayish... I then click to select it and it becomes
highlighted. I then scroll and that is when my Calendar on the right goes
up/down, instead of my folder list moving up/down.
