Several Pc OS are on the basis of winXP, net connect them
in the same Router. I put these PC in the same group,
seeing all of them in this group and also can share the
folders and files between each other. However I can't
ping IP sucessfully among them. why don't ping them, how
can solve it?

thank you!

I'm _not_ an expert but.....

Perhaps you need to enable the "Bypass proxy server for local addresses"?

See Connections -> LAN settings

If you are NOT using a DHCP service then you will need to use a static IP
address on each machine such as
192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2 etc.

xufeng:

If they are the same side of the router, then it is usually a subnet issue
or a firewall issue.
To check for same subnet, run ipconfig on each machine and compare the IP
addresses with their subnet masks

Gary:

You can network and ping using auto-addressing (169.254.x.x) provided the
hosts are in the same subnet.
The key issue is "same subnet", otherwise you must use a router.
