Why Microsoft AntiSpyware is Untrustworthy? - Its a Beta.

==> That's patently ridiculous. It's a matter of definitions and
policy and not programming.
Other AS vendors issue betas without the appearance of changing their
exclude/include policy. Do some reading about what happened to
AdAware's reputation when they did to their software defs
recommendations what MS has done to its.

I think you are right to have concerns but Claria is
still clearly described as Adware by MSAS if you try to
install it,You will have to ignore all the Red Alert
Warnings MSAS provide to be able to install Claria,When i
tested this MSAS detected over 3100 traces of
Claria,Spysweeper 808,Adaware 52 and spybot 20 so its not
ignoring Claria at all and the screen shots are very
deceving in my view as they do not explain you would have
to ignore all the alerts from MSAS to get this to run on
your system.

Regarding the latest downgrades to 'ignore'

I have a Malware Folder on my pc which i use to save
suspect files into to run tests and check detection from
different vendors etc.. and MSAS has detected 8 of the
problems even though 3 say ignore,

Ive now just run Adaware SE on the default setting & ive
also received a beta file from Adaware from Lavasoft
research and have run them both on full system scans and
they did not find any problems at all except for 1
tracking cookie !!

I have alot of malware stored so im suprised Adaware has
missed them I have these saved in my malware folder

DashBugFreeSetup_new.exe

DashConnectSetup_new.exe

DashMemorySetup_new.exe

DashPCCleanerSetup_new.exe

DashPopupKillerSetup_new.exe

QVGqtb_Setup.exe (new.net)

VVSNI_Cast_webInst.exe (whenU.com)

VVSNI_SaveNowSiteInst.exe

VVSNI_SearchBar_PopupBlockInst.exe

VVSNI_WHSE1204Inst.exe

WhenUShopSetup.exe

If you check any of the filenames you will see nothing in
this list is wanted by users .MSAS recommended i remove 5
of them and recommended i ignore 3,Adware doesnt detect
any problems either by using the default public
definitions or the beta definitions file i received today
so i dont think you should be too fast to judge MSAS .I
will post screen shots and detections levels once i have
time to test them but i wanted to post so you know these
sites you are reading are just Anti-MS sites and really
you shouldn't believe them untill you see both sides,Id
rather use a Antispy solution that detects the faults and
advise i ignore them rather than use a Antispy program
that doesnt even detect them

I hope to be able to post this in a more detailed way
sometime soon and see how many of the different scanners
detect these files,

Regards Andy

It is sad that people don't understand what beta means, that is why we
don't get alot of public beta. It this will most likely be the reason why I
thin IE7 will not go into a public beta. since people can't understand a
beta.

MS AntiSpyware makes clariant/gain very difficult to
install and does still list it as spyware in a scan. It
will also remove it, if you want it to. I'm not that
concerned with its classification as "Ignore".

At some point, I'm sure there will be a 'preview' type release. I'm walking
away form the PC that day, 'cuz the traffic will be huge. :)

I want to see a map of where the wires are buried, 'cause I want to know how
to stay away from the hot spots!
