Why isn't the formula calculating correctly in excel

The calculation is not correct when adding ie. =SUM(H17:H23). I am using
windows xp., microsoft office.

Hi Fayette

Info is very sketchy, but I think one or more of your cells contain text,
that looks like figures, but is not. Make sure all your cells are actually
containing figures. Perhaps use the formula =H17*1 in cell I 17, and copy
down to I 23. Now copy, and then paste special the results back to H17:H23
as values

I am not aware of any instance where basic arithmetic in Excel does not
perform as it is supposed to. If Kassie did not pinpoint your issue,
then you need to post more information (contents of cells H17:H23,
result of SUM(H17:H23), etc.)
