Why isn't solver add in not installed in XP Pro?

Whenever I do a custom install why isn't solver add in not installed? Is it not a crucial feature or does it take up a lot of space.

Huh? When you do a custom install, you decide exactly which parts of Excel
get installed. If you choose to install Solver, it gets installed. If you
choose to not install Solver, it doesn't get installed. You can always run
the setup CD's install again to add specific parts of Excel, e.g., Solver.
