Why is the Letter Tab in Outlook Contacts in the wrong language?

In Outlook's Contacts area, the buttons running vertically along the right
edge are not in english, making it difficult to jump to the letter you want.
It looks like they're in Greek or Russian or something like that. Everything
else about Outlook looks like it's configured for English. How can I chagne
the Letter Tab to use an English alphabet?

Not 100% sure about this but click on the icon at the bottom of the buttons
and choose "None" as opposed to the other alphabets

I don't see any icon there.

See if there's a setting for it here: Tools menu > Options > Contacts

Ah ha... been a long time since I've seen OL2000. I'm not sure how to change
that in OL2000. I'll see what I can find...

IIRC, it's right where you said it is, Vince.
Open any view of the Contacts Folder that contains the alphabetical index at
the right (e.g., Address Card). It's the last button in the view.

I don't see it. I wish we could exchange screen shots. Can you point me to
an image somewhere? On my well-working Outlook, the last button in the stack
is YZ (as in
http://www.heritagedigital.com/CustomerServices/images/Procedures/OutlookScreen.gif).

You'll just have to wait.
IMO hasn't been in general use for years and most of us couldn't wait to
leave it behind. It will take us a while to find an installation that old
that is still running so we can check.

On the Outlook installation in question, the last button is some cluster
of
foreign characters.
