I use Word 2002 for working at home and use a lot of autotext and macros and
all of a sudden I can't type fast in my document because the hourglass symbol
keeps appearing every few seconds or so for a few seconds (enough to screw
up my typing) and I have tried everything to get it to stop short of
uninstalling and reinstalling Word becasue I don't want to lose all my
macros, etc. I tried Ad Aware to see if maybe there was something running in
the background, I tried changing my display properties, turning off other
programs, etc. Please help if anyone has a suggestion, I will gladly try
it!!!! Thanks. Debbie

I would try re-naming your normal.dot template to normalold.dot and then
restart Word and see if the problem goes away. If it does, it is some
problem caused by something in your normal.dot template (all those macros
which probably should be in an add-in rather than in normal.dot), but if you
open that template and use the organizer under Tools>Macro>Macros, you can
copy things across to the new normal.dot that would have been created when
you restarted Word.
