Why is Outlook is deleting highlighted messages?

Outlook is deleting any highlighted email. For EG. when you open outlook it
highlights the most current email, if you get out of INBOX and then go back
the highlighted mail is gone. If you open the highlighted mail and close it,
it is gone. Why is outlook doing this and how can I correct it?

Sounds like the user might have a view (filter) on that is hiding read
messages. Take a peek under the View > Arrange By (or Current View
depending on version) to see what view is in use.
