Why is outlook deleting old messages in my inbox?

I normally save items in my inbox until I answer them or the problem is
solved - I recently noticed some old items being automatically deleted. I
can't find them anywhere. They're not in my deleted items or any archive
folder. Is there a way I can make sure I can save an email for as long as I
want in my inbox without it disappearing?

check autoarchive settings on all folders...
