Why is outlook deleting all incoming attachments?

When viewing my mail on my laptop directly from the POP server, I can see and
open incoming email attachments. However, when I use my desktop and view my
mail through Outlook, the attachments disappear. Not only can I not open
them, but they don't even show up as an attachment to the email. I cannot
recover the attachments because once the email is downloaded to Outlook, it
is no longer available on the POP server. Any thoughts?

Do you have the same version of outlook on both machines? What about a
firewall/virus scanner? Is the attachment present but hidden? (check file
size) If hidden, what type of attachments are they? (exe, jpg, doc etc.) If
not exe or other potentially dangerous file type, can you access them if you
hit forward?
