Why is my bookmark items in my favourites got reset?

Hello all,

I moved my often used individual bookmark items to the top of the Favourites
menu. Below them are many many many Favourites folders.

Today i found out that those individual bookmark items that i took some
efforts to move to the top of the Favourites menu (as there are many)
suddenly appeared in the bottom of the Favourites menu as it was before, i.e.
with folders on top followed by individual bookmark items.

Is this a bug? What did i do? The only thing i can think of that even
remotely affect this is the fact that I saved a group of tabs by using "Add
Tab Group to Favourites". But this shouldn't effect the ordering of the
bookmark items. In fact I tried again, but couldn't duplicate that. So what
is going on? A bug? A design feature?

Cheers

I have looong since given up on trusting IE to maintain the order of
my favorites (or the automatic hide/show of those items). The only
sure way to force the sort order (and keep it that way) is to rename
the files with numeric or other prefixes that sort the way you want.
Not an elegant solution, but Windows is not an elegant OS.
