Why is Findfast.exe run on it's own frequently?

What is Findfast.exe? Is it something that indexes files for faster
searches? Sometimes my harddrive runs for a long time and when I check my
task manager to see what's running it's Findfast.exe?

Findfast is part of your MS Office install.
