why have i lost files when i done a disc clean up on my second hard drive
(set to fat32) and deleted indexing files only and it said it was safe to and
its now lost all my pictures and audio files ect over 39 gigs worth its only
a 40 gig drive.
any ideas why and more importantly how to recover them.

ps no sevice pack 2 loaded as yet.

Umm, I doubt seriously you deleted 39gs of data from a 40 g drive. I say
this because Windows and your installed programs would have at least taken
5gs of the drive, so your statement says you should have 39gs of drive space
free, witrh your system still up! Not happening, as Windows ALONE will take
almost 2gs itself just to install.

Also, to use the cleaning tool to remove said files (which cannot be done),
it would have been running for eons before you got the confirmation to go
through with that task. Did you maunally delete your files, as clean manager
would not have done this task?
