My Dell laptop, XP-SP@ etc etc, last week started to re-boot, without
warning, while I;m in the middle of doing something.

I doubt it can be a virus or other malware, as I'm very careful.

Here is some info that popped up when this happened:

Error signature:
BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : F8A58940 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001
BCP4 : 804D9B68 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 768_1

"The following files will be included in this error report"
C:\DOCUME~1\Naomi\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER16e3.dir00\Mini010309-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Naomi\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER16e3.dir00\sysdata.xml

Anyone have any idea what might be going on???

When laptops spontaneously reboot, I first suspect heat.

I agree, and it's usually caused by an internal dust build-up
reducing airflow. However, in this case, XP has time to
generate the standard error report the user can send to MS,
so it isn't exactly spontaneous. But, it could still be due to
memory errors caused by overheating RAM.
