Why don't my hyperlinks change color?

I build all of my Presentation as small modules that I link to each other. I
have been doing this since PowerPoint2000. (I use action buttons, "insert
object", as well applying hyperlinks to lines of text.) However, since
upgrading to PP'02, and now PP'03, I find that my underlined text hyperlinks
don't change color like they should.
Yes, I know all about color schemes and all that. (I am a very experienced
PowerPoint user.) That's not the issue. Let me describe it this way:
I create, save, and close a Presentation. (Let's say it's named "link")
I then create a new Presentation. (Let's say it's named "origin")
Within "origin" I create a text slide, I type some text, and I select and
hyperlink this text to the "link" presentation. The linked text get
underlined, and takes on the color specified in the color scheme as "Accent
and hyperlink". So far so good.
If I now go into slideshow mode with "origin" I can see my hyperlinked text.
I can click on it and launch the linked presentation, as it should.
When the linked presentation is done I am returned to the "origin" slide.
However, the underlined link has NOT changed color.
Now here's the funny thing: If I escape out of slideshow mode into the
normal view, NOW the linked text changes color to that of "Accent and
followed hyperlink". But then it's too late. I want it to change color
during the slide show.
This used to work just fine in all the presentations I created under PP2000.
I know this is supposed to work in PP'03. I just can't get it to work for me.
Has anyone else had this problem? I suspect there is some setting I could
change, but I can't figure out what?

Well, it works here in PPT 2003 as it should, Ken, and I don't think that
there's anything special other than the color schemes you'd need to
change--so it must be something in your system.

Thanks for including the info about how it changes once you move into Normal
edit mode. That's helpful.

I'd first start with changing hardware acceleration.

How to set graphics hardware acceleration back

If that doesn't do the trick, I'd next update video drivers.
