Went to do a repair install and all is fine to a point.
Why does it ask for a aministrators password when none has been given...?
Enter and esc does not work.

I tried my two other compurters and when I type R for repair, it ask for a
password that I have never set. Anybody know what the problem is. Any other
way to do a repair install.

Checked articles about this, but not the password deal. Thanks.

Hi

Are you pressing 'R' in the correct place? You need to press Enter at the
first screen, then press the next 'R'. Please have a look at the following
article by Michael Stevens with regard to a 'Repair' install of XP:

"How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"

That took care of it, thanks.

You're welcome - glad it's sorted.

The first 'R' encountered is the Recovery Console where a variety of
problems can be fixed assuming knowledge of commands required is present..
the second 'R' is for an automated repair that, hopefully, will put the
system back into a workable state with minimum intervention from the user
being necessary..

Look like the option R should not be a option at the first place if it is
asking for a password that does not exist. I will read the article, but
looks like strange logic.

It's a complete waste of time arguing about how MS should have written
their operating system. You asked why and what and we told you.

You need to back off the crack MR Elephant head, I found my answer as to the
first R.

We will all keep your attitude in mind should you ever post again.

Nor was Malke, you asked a question and was given an answer in a polite
and concise way, what more did you want.

Remarks like 'You need to back off the crack MR Elephant head' are not
warranted or acceptable..

Sorry if I took the above reply as a smart ass. Just won't ask any
questions.
