Why does WinWord run along with Outlook

When I run Outlook 2003, Winword.exe would start by itself. I don't see
the actual program, but if I run Task Manager, it's listed there. Why?
 
You are probably using Word as your email editor.
Go to Tools, Options, Mail Format. See if the box 'Use
Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messsages' is checked.
Uncheck the box and try again.
