Why does Windows defrag interpret differently than PerfectDisk 8?

I notice after doing passes with PerfectDisk 8, the WinXP Defrag
utility shows open space and defragmented files. Why so?

Thanks for all info.

Do you mean it shows *fragmented* files? Defrag utilities don't all work
the same way, and have different methods of evaluating the file
structure. Nonetheless, if you set PerfectDisk to fill slack space, the
Windows defragger (a crippled version of Diskeeper) shouldn't be showing
any. Are you having performance issues that you think are related to
file fragmentation? If you're not, then defragging is mostly a waste of
time anyway.
