Why does sqlservr.exe keep running after shutting down Outlook 200

Is this normal? sqlservr.exe doesn't start until I run Outlook, but then it
continues to run after I shut down Outlook, keeping its greedy hooks in 15%
of my total 2GB of memory. This seems odd to me! If I play Civilization
into a late game (which is a memory and processor hog at that stage) after
I've run Outlook I get stuttering performance and occasional lock-ups. I
don't have this problem when playing after a fresh reboot.

Any insight from a more technically proficient type would be appreciated!

In the default case, with BCM installed, sqlserver will always be
running.

Your sqlserver service must be set to manual start, which why it only
start with BCM starts up and finds that it is not running.

Quitting Outlook doesn't shutdown sqlserver because some other
application (e.g. MOA) may be suing it, or a shared user may be using
the BCM database.
