Why does Outlook stop responding? This can happen with any email account.
The most irritating one is email received from yahoo message boards - the is
just no way to view these emails unless I'm connected to the 'net which is
rather expensive since being restricted to 3G.

Thanks,
J.

That's hard to say without any configuration information. At least mention;
-Version of Outlook
-Type of email account
-Any errors that is presented directly to you or is logged to the Event
Viewer

Version 2003
IMAP, HTTP and POP3 accounts. You're probably aware that yahoo message
groups can only be accessed by yahoo mail accounts.
No errors - Outlook just stops responding. Sometimes after 30 mins I may be
able to use it again. But if i'm conencted to the 'net Outlook will respond
sooner (still several minutes after conencting though). Where I have forced
termination sometimes the info gets to MS but never reponse.

The other problematic one is:
Vodafone IMAP even though the full messages have been downloaded.
Also forgot to mention Outlook is set to work offline which I would have
thought would have worked. Even having IE work offline doesn't help

I'm receiving Yahoo mailing-list-messages just fine on my non-Yahoo account
so I'm not really sure what you are trying to say here.
How does it work in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run-> outlook.exe /safe

If you have the Yahoo mailing list added to your Safe Senders list and also
have Outlook to directly download pictures from the Internet for addresses
that you have marked as safe, then you could indeed experience a delay when
the on-line content is tried to be received. That delay shouldn't be long
though (maybe up to a second or two).

The delay is extremely long to the point of having to end task on
non-responsive program when I am not online. How is it possible to use a non
Yahoo acount - when they dropped my one I had to create a new one. If I knew
I could use a non YAhoo one I would have.

If you're talking about Yahoo Groups here;
-logon to their web interface with your Yahoo account
-select the group for which you want to change address
-click Edit Membership
-here you can control how messages are being delivered to you and via which
address

I notice the second line says Yahoo account.

Yes, you need that to access the Yahoo group, but you can choose to have the
emails delivered for that group to a non-Yahoo address. That's what you
wanted, right?
