Why does Outlook not close completely; it remains in system tray?

Outlook does not close completely. It remains in the system tray and when you
try to re-open it will not open. The only way to open is to manually close
through the task manager first or restart the computer. I have done a detect
& repair and I am up to date.

There are a multitude of reasons why Outlook would stay resident. Here are
some off the top of my head.

1) Fax software installed (e.g. WinFax)
2) PDA software installed (e.g. ActiveSync and the device is cradled)
3) Poorly written 3rd party Outlook addins
4) Microsoft Word (Word is still open and you are using Word as the e-mail
editor)
