Why does outlook close when I minimise it

When I minimise Microsoft Outlook or go to Show Desktop, Outlook closes down.
It has only started to do this recently and I can't figure out why.
 
Which version of Outlook?
Have you done anything to the machine recently that might cause this?
 
This is normal when you have 'Hide when minimized' selected. Start Outlook,
right click on the OL icon in the Notification area and uncheck it.

My question has been answered thanks, it was because the 'hide when
minimised' icon had been ticked in the bottom right hand corner.
