Why does Outlook Calendar change the time of an appointment?

When I open a (future) day in Calendar, and click on a time to make an
appointment, when I have finished and closed it, Outlook changes the
appointment date to today.

This is driving me nuts.

Does anyone know how to stop it?

I would like to click on a time on a given (future) date and have the
"appointment" window open up with that date and start time already
pre-entered. As it is now, no matter where I click, the appointment window
ALWAYS opens up with today and now as the default date and start time.

This is also driving me nuts.
