Why does my shared spreadsheet have formula errors?

my spreadsheet is a fy salary spreadsheet. i am the only person who makes
entries. however, it is a shared file. others use it for various tasks, but
do not make entries to it.
when i go to open it, there are little green triangles in the corners which
tells me whoever viewed it did something???????
in order to get the triangles to go away, i click on them and click
"ignore".
what can i do to be able to let someone view the spreadsheet, but not be
able to do anything else to it. should it be locked or secured?

I think I would give it a password.

File|SaveAs|Tools|General Options
give it a nice memorable password to modify.

User's will be able to open it in readonly mode (and make changes that can be
saved elsewhere!), though.

In fact, they could make changes, save them as a new name, and then delete your
file and rename their file to your old file's name.

If you think that they're "bad" enough to do this, you may want to ask your IT
department for a drive that only trusted people have write access to.
