Why does my new email disappear before I can read it?

Lately, when my new email messages are downloaded into my inbox, I see a
flash of a title as it's downloading, but then it immediately disappears.
I've looked in the deleted file, the junk file....nothing. Several of these
were important messages from buyers of auctions I have listed. This just
started happening in the past week or so.

What version of Outlook, are using Exchange, do you have any views or Rules
that could be working on these emails.

Also check your View settings. It should be set to view All Messages, not
just unread ones.

I'm using Office 2003, on Windows XP Home.

I hadn't changed any of my settings prior to this happening, but when I look
at "View", view all messages isn't even one of the choices. I've been using
Office 2003 for about a year and this problem just started recently.

There could be a POP3 client on your system which is reading the mailbox.
This would cause the emails to be downloaded and deleted from the exchange
server mailbox.
