why does my attachment open in book format

When opening my word attachment in Outlook, it opens in a book format. It
displays each page and screens each one. What settings do I have wrong?

You have it set to open in a reading pane. If you would like to stop that
from happening open Word go to Tools then Options. Under the General tab
there should be an option "Allow starting in reading layout", just uncheck
that box.

I find no tab marked "general" under "tools, options." Are you starting from
the general or "in-box" display?
I'm having the same problem.

Di's instructions clearly say IN WORD. The Tabs you describe are IN
OUTLOOK.
