hey
ive had my AIW radeon 7500 for a couple years now on the same system, and
never before have i really noticed such heavy usage of the cpu and memory
resources on my amd XP 1600 with 512 pc 133 sdram & ata 100 ide channels.
i look into my taskmanager on XP, and see that MMC is using up significantly
more memory and cpu usage than any other app. and that is when i've just
opened mmc, and there is nothing but static coming through the television
display, and at this point i find my system to be very sluggish and if
possible, i'd like to change some preferences around, to get things working
a bit more smoothly if i can.

any suggestions/comments/help?

My 2 cents is that ATI MMC is a software suite with a heap of great
features, that is a piece of shit to use. ATI have persevered with tacking
on bits to this archaic program for way too long, and it is well overdue for
a complete rewrite.
Avoid it wherever possible I say

Look at InterVideo WinDVR 3. I downloaded and installed the trial on an AIW
Radeon and it worked very well (my installation of MMC 8.5 ATI TV has
stopped working due to bugs I can't seem to fix). Only problem is that the
InterVideo retail version is pricey (almost $100).

One thing to check with your MMC ATI TV setup is if you have TV-on-Demand on
by default. It is a resource hog and bogs down even a fast system. I was
worried my system was dying until I noticed it was on while I was watching
TV via MMC.
