Why does meeting invite disappear when I accept/decline?

When I receive an invitation to a meeting it is sent directly to my Deleted
Items folder once I accept or decline. The problem is that quite often
people have put information in that email that pertains to my project and I
want it left in the inbox until I decide if it should be tossed. Is there a
way to chagne this?

It should be added as a meeting on your calendar, and the information should
go with it. The thought is if you decline the meeting you are not concerned
with the notes.

The situation comes up that a team member sends out a meeting invitation
that discusses a problem in detail that will be discussed in the meeting.
It comes in the form of an email. Whether or not I can go I want the
information contained in the email. Even if I do accept I still don't want
to have to be digging through my emails to study a subject and then remember
that I have to go to my calendar to read "that" email. I want all that info
to stay in my inbox until I move it to a project directory.

I can see your point but it's not the way I'd like to manage that
information. Is there a way to change that setting...I've looked
everywhere. I simply want the email to stay in my inbox after I accpet or
reject the meeting invite.

In Outlook 2003 (and, I think, 2002), you can click Tools>Options>E-mail
Options>Advanced E-mail Options and uncheck "Delete meeting request from
Inbox when responding". But you didn't think mentioning the version of
Outlook to be important, so who knows how to change your settings.

Thanks for the tip Brian...in spite of the attitude. You're correct...I did
forget to mention I'm using 2003. My bad. I'll tear my clothing and heap
burning coals on my head.
