Why does inserted clipart dissapear?

Lately, once I place clipart onto a Word document (and I do see it in there)
it disapears when I click on another part of the document. It is there
though. I bring it forward and it shows up again until I click into another
part of the document. I have also opened the picture toolbar and brought it
forward that way (last button on the right). I have tried saving when I can
see it but again it will disappear again if I click on any other part of the
document.

This is almost certainly a problem with your video driver.

By going to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot, and
dragging the Hardware Acceleration slider down three notches, you will be able
to disable Word from making the calls on the video driver that cause this
problem.

Important: Changing the hardware acceleration does not solve the problem. It is
merely a method by which you can see that the problem lies with the video
driver.

(Please also note that even if your computer is brand new, you won't necessarily
have the latest drivers.)

Go to the manufacturer's web site of your graphics/video card and look around
for an updated driver.

To troubleshoot, go to the Windows Control Panel and choose Display >
Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot and move the Hardware Acceleration
slider a notch or two to the left. Click the Apply button. Try Word to
see if the problem goes away. If not, move the slider further to the
left and try again. Repeat until the problem stops or the slider is
all the way to the left.

If at any point in the procedure the problem stops, then you should
check the video-card manufacturer's web site for a newer driver, or
consider replacing the card with a faster one.
